all about baby

We had the US today. We went in and she got undressed from the waist down as instructed (although she left her socks on for modesty’s sake). We just kept looking at the probe for the machine and giggling. After about 10 minutes he came in and we got our first look at Firefly’s insides. It was pretty neat, actually, although not necessarily what I was expecting. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I honestly hadn’t even thought about it being a probe until she said something about it in the car on the way there.

He showed us her uterus and measured the lining. He said he was looking for a minimum thickness of 10mm and hers was 17, which he said was good. Then we moved on to the ovaries. He wanted to see follicles that were 22mm minimum. He started with the left, where she had one that was 27mm and a few that were tiny. She had two that were right around 22mm in the right one. He said this is also good. After he was done Firefly got dressed and we went and sat down with the nurse. She mixed the meds and give us instructions on how to give the injection, and then we walked next door to buy our swimmers. It was rather surreal.

She got the trigger shot tonight; her dart league started back up and a friend of ours gave it to her outside of the bar where they played. Hey, it worked for another friend of ours. She said if we get pregnant on the first try we’ll have to name it after her, but we’re not convinced. We go in for our first attempt at making a baby at 9 a.m. on Friday. I’m trying to be realistic and not to get too excited because I know that lots of couples have to try many times before they get a positive result, but it’s not working very well.
