so much to do

My head is feeling much better today, although I think it’s about to explode from all the homework I’ve been doing. I didn’t get much accomplished while we were gone other than reading, so now I’m playing catch up on my writing. I’ve been glued to my computer for the last few hours working and I think I’m about done with one of my assignments, but I still have a lot to do on the other. I’m hoping it doesn’t keep me up too much longer, as I’m guessing that Firefly will be ready for bed soon.

She’s still wearing her work uniform. It’s kind of sexy.

We’re about to go crazy waiting either for her to start her cycle or Friday to get here so we can test. This two week wait is miserable.

I’m ready to go to bed. I really want to just say to hell with the rest of my homework for tonight and go cuddle under the covers.

oh, my head.

I have a really bad headache. It feels like the beginning of a migraine. I took some stuff so hopefully it’ll kick in soon.

Back to work today. The first day after a vacation always feels so long…

Homework sucks. It’s great that I’m actually focusing on writing, and writing a lot, but I’m too much of a perfectionist for my own good and have trouble coming up with good ideas. Ugh.

Just four more days until we test, assuming nothing happens in the meantime to thwart us. This is stressing me out. My face is breaking out. I just want to know!

We talked about some names today. We’ve had a boy name in mind for a while, but were having some trouble coming to a consensus on a girl’s. She told me today that she actually likes a particular name that happens to be one of my favorites. So at least there’s that, even if we’re not successful this time around.

well, we’re home.

Obviously I didn’t get a chance to post yesterday, but such is life. Right now she’s catching up on some shows she missed and I just finished up some homework, so I thought I’d put up a quick post.

We had a great time this weekend. I look forward to this trip every year. I just hope that next year we’ll have a baby in tow! We hiked, built some fires, did some shopping, stayed up late playing cards and reconnecting with friends, and did a bit of fishing while we were at it. We were both grumpy today, though. I’ll use my time of the month as my excuse, and hopefully at the end of the week I’ll be able to say that hers was because of general moodiness related to her condition.

She’s on first shift this week for fire refresher courses to keep up on her certifications–or EM.T refresher courses, I can’t remember which it is right now–so I’m looking forward to having a whole week of sleeping next to my wife.

I can’t wait for Friday when we test! It would be bad of us to test early, wouldn’t it? But, oh, how we want to…

hello!

We forgot hot sauce for our traditional Friday night burritos, so I’m posting as we wander through dollar general. It’s really lovely weather, nice and cool for a fall vacation, although it’s a bit overcast. Our hot spiced cider is going to be so good this evening!

later.

I was up late working on the story and getting my clothes and things together. At least I got to sleep in a bit today, and I was in bed when Firefly came home from work which meant some nice cuddle time. I think I got more sleep last night than I have in a while, and I only got between 5 and 6 hours.

I need to remember to put my backup camera battery on the charger when we get there…

We’re packing up and heading out for our weekend getaway. I’ve had spotty cell service down there before, but I may be missing my first days of posting since starting this blog. We’ll see. I’m really looking forward to it!

I’ll leave you with a picture I took two years ago at the same place:

i am officially on vacation

I managed to get everything done at work today, so I’m off for four days! We’re leaving tomorrow afternoon for a nice long weekend away, and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll be on our own tomorrow night, which I’m really looking forward to, and then we’ll be joined by friends on Friday. Actually I think there will be another couple there tomorrow, but they’re in their own cabin so we’ll have a private night to ourselves, which is really the important point. I still need to finish up some school things and get my clothes together before we go. I did some last minute errands, filling up the car and getting some fun drinks for me and limeade and some other things for Firefly.

I need to call my sister and make sure she’s planning on coming over to take care of the kitties…

Still waiting. Still anxious and impatient. Still just wanting to know one way or the other.

Oh! So I got an email from Firefly’s mom last week saying that they enjoyed meeting my parents. I emailed her back last night, and when I checked my email this evening there was a new one from her in my mailbox. She said that the next time Firefly and I come to visit we should bring my folks with us. And then she closed it with “Mom Firefly”! Okay, that’s not really what she wrote. Well, it is, but she didn’t say Firefly, she used their last name.

And now I’m off to pack and work on a story.

More symptoms that might be good signs or might be signs of something else. We’re so ready to just know.

I got a lot done at work today, so it’s looking likely that I’ll be able to take the whole day off on Thursday.

I’ve got a story to finish tonight and an examination of how I could break down another into a segmented piece.

We’ve got stink bugs everywhere. I found three in the house earlier and they’re all over outside. Apparently they’re a big problem this year.

Our kitties are super cute.

I need to do laundry.

i’m ready for my vacation.

Well, she didn’t take a half night. She slept until around 2 while I did homework, but she kept having to get up to use the restroom. It’s crazy, I keep thinking about things that I wouldn’t normally and wonder if they’re signs. She was moody today. Was she just tired? Who knows. We still have a week and a half before we’ll find out for sure. It seems early to be having symptoms, if that’s what it is, since implantation doesn’t happen for 6-10 days. But what do I know?

We had someone out to look at insulating the crawlspace over the bathrooms. They said it’s too small and doesn’t meet their minimum square footage. The other place we’ve talked to also has a minimum that we don’t meet, so it looks like we’ll be doing it ourselves. It’s going to save us money, but it’s also going to be a hassle that we were hoping to avoid. Oh, well.

We also went to the grocery to stock our kitchen and get supplies for our trip at the end of this week. I don’t think I’m a fun person to go to the store with. I’m impatient and have no idea where anything is. I also have a tendency to fall prey to those impulse buys. Luckily when Firefly and I go together it’s pretty easy for her to convince me we don’t need whatever it is, but she gets so frustrated with me.

Tomorrow it’s back to work for two days, then I have a four-day weekend. Two long weekends in a row. I can’t wait!

fun times.

We went to see Mar.garet Cho last night. She was super sick, but the show was awesome and we had a great time. We decided to go to the after party because some other friends of ours were going and we got in free with our ticket stubs. We figured we could just go elsewhere if we weren’t having fun and we wouldn’t be out anything. When we got there we found out that she was actually coming to the bar. We got to get our picture taken with her! It was so cool, but I felt so bad because she was so sick. Her show tonight was actually cancelled because of illness.

We had a good time at breakfast this morning with Firefly’s best friend and her kids. It’s always good to see them and catch up. They were in town for a dog show. Bennder joined us late, and then the three of us went back to our house and sat on the patio reading and hanging out.

We went Fris.bee golfing with Bean, Badger, Bennder, and her new girlfriend this afternoon. I lost track of where I was at one point early on, but I did really well on the later holes so I think overall I was around 10 over par. After we played we went out to dinner. We didn’t get done until around 8, then came home and spent some time on the couch watching a show we had recorded. Firefly dozed off for a little bit, but she was so tired when she left for work. I’m kind of hoping she schedules herself for a half day. I guess I’ll find out if she comes home around 3.

Firefly was feeling some cramping earlier today, mostly in her lower back which is unusual for her. I’m not sure if that’s a good sign or not–or nothing at all. Ugh. I hate this waiting to find out. I wish we could just know now!

ugh.

We went out to dinner last night with some friends and then went to a bar with them to hang out. Firefly was drinking water all night, so I…well, I didn’t. I had a lot of fun, but I am dragging today. We went Fris.bee golfing today and I was so off. It was terrible. I haven’t played that badly in a long, long time.

I’ve decided that I’m going to refer to Firefly’s sister as Bennder. She gave me permission last night, although I was drunk so she may have been humoring me in hopes that I wouldn’t remember. But I did! Anyway, we met her new girlfriend last night. She seems very cool and I liked her a lot. We’re going Fris.bee golfing with them tomorrow, I believe.

Firefly’s best friend from home is in town, so we’re going to meet her for breakfast in the morning. It’s always good to see her, and it’ll be fun to see her face when we tell her about the insemination. :-)

Tonight, however, it’s dinner and comedy with a couple we’re close friends with. It’s going to be so much fun! Speaking of which, I should probably go change and get ready to go.
