We took advantage of having Firefly’s mom here one last time this morning, leaving Monkey in her care for about an hour while the two of us went to the baby store and got a few things we were needing. It was weird to leave him, but I think she enjoyed having some time alone with him, and it was nice for us to be able to go without really having to worry about anything.

We’re on our own now for the first time since Monkey was born. Firefly’s mom left early this afternoon to go home and get ready for guests and Thanksgiving. Bean came over for a few hours this afternoon, but other than that it’s just been the three of us. It’s been going well for the most part, although he’s been fussing for a little bit. Actually, I’d better go now and see if there’s anything I can do to help out. Until next time!

It’s been a long, eventful day but we’re so glad to be home. Right now, though, we’re exhausted so Firefly is feeding him one last time and then we’ll be heading to bed to try and get a few hours of sleep at least. I’llhave more of an update tomorrow, I promise!

Well, I got a bunch of pictures taken of the nursery and am working on getting a page up, but of course they’re on my desktop and I’m on my laptop watching a show in the living room with Firefly. I can access the pictures remotely, but it’s slower going than if I was in my office. Hopefully I’ll get it up tonight.

Still no real movement toward the outside from the monkey, at least not that we can tell. I’m ready to go at work, so tomorrow I’ll just be finishing some things up.

Would it be cheating for me to make up a few picture posts and have them at the ready so I can keep up with this NaBloPoMo thing even if we’re at the hospital? I don’t think it is. Right?

Nesting is in full swing here at the Blue/Fire house. I went out to dinner with my mom and Bean and then to chorus just long enough to let my section leader know that I won’t be able to do the concert this Sunday. When I got home Bennder and Firefly were hard at work cleaning the house. I joined in and we’ve pretty much gotten everything done at this point. We still have a few small things we can do, but all of the big jobs are done and we’re ready to go.

Hear that, Monkey? We’re ready whenever you are.

Now we just wait.

Nothing new happening here. We did get quite a bit done around the house, but no sign of the monkey yet.

Tomorrow I’ll go to chorus, but I have no real hope of actually being at the concert on Sunday. I’ll be letting my section leader know, although she’s been pretty aware of how things have been going so far so it shouldn’t be a surprise.

I plan to spend the workday finishing up with things in my office in preparation for being off.

Right now I’m tired and hoping that something will happen soon. Very, very soon. But after we get a good night’s sleep.

Oh, right. That would be my wife.

It was a beautiful day for it, though. It was so lovely out and I took lots and lots of photos….and then realized that I had my camera set at 800 ISO. Yeah, I’m smart. I wondered why nothing seemed to be working quite right, but apparently it didn’t dawn on me to check that. So I got a lot of blown out images that no amount of correction will fix, unless I want some crazy looking colors. Which I might, because I did a bit of playing and had some cool results. But I did get this, which I like:

Soon after Firefly found someone else that was a tad bit longer. In fact she almost stepped on him. Bennder and I thought she might go into labor then and there. I’ll put those pictures behind a cut for those of you who visit the blog and may have a similar reaction. To those of you following along on  a reader, well, I hope you don’t since you’ll be able to see them right now…

It was probably about a foot and a half long, although he was rather skinny. I’d say about as big as my pinkie.

I dunno. I thought it was kinda cute.

I’m just glad it wasn’t a bee. That would not have been cute at all.

I went in to work for a few hours and got quite a bit done in terms of getting ready to be gone. Next week I shouldn’t have a lot going on, so I feel pretty good about being able to get everything done that I need to, assuming that the monkey continues to hang tight.

When I got home Firefly had been working on some things around the house. We went out and ran some errands,  then finished up all the little things that were left in the bathroom. We put up the last two little pieces of tile, did a small bit of caulking, hung the towel rings and toilet paper holder, put the handles on all three doors, got the shower curtain up, and we cleaned it all (except the floor, which was swept but not mopped). It is officially done. We even managed to squeeze in the hockey game in the midst of it all. We have lots of stuff we’d like to get done tomorrow, too, so hopefully we can be as productive as we were today.

Anyone want to come hang out tomorrow?

Now if I could only kick the rest of this crud from my sinuses everything would be golden.

Oh, and also someone asked me about nursery pictures. I’m working on it, I promise!

I’m feeling much better this evening, thanks everyone so much for your well wishes. I went back to work this morning, and although I was feeling it quite a bit then and dragging a lot I haven’t had to take anything for my congestion since this morning when I first got going.

I did leave work early today for the last weekly OB appointment. Still no real change, but we have a plan so that’s good. When we got home we made a list of all the things we’d still like to do before the monkey arrives, although of course that’s up to him at this point.

I’m supposed to be off tomorrow for the holiday, but I may go in for a few hours to try to finish getting everything together for my absence. I’ll only be completely out for four weeks since I don’t qualify for maternity leave, but I don’t want to leave a mess. Right now, though, I’m going to go spend some quality time with my wife while I still can.

Just my usual, according to the doctor, but I made it in early enough that it hadn’t turned to bronchitis. I’m on antibiotics for a week and slept off and on for most of the afternoon and evening. Firefly had darts tonight and I had wanted to go with her since it might be the last time for quite a while that I’d be able to, but decided it was better to stay home and rest. Probably the better choice.

I’m planning to go back to work tomorrow, but I’ll be leaving early anyway because we have the weekly OB appointment, so I can always head out a little earlier.

Oh, I do believe I just heard her car door outside. And I need to blow my nose.
