what we are.

Today was very exciting.

Not really.

Today was one of those days when you realize you’re really just an old married couple. When you come home from the gym with the house smelling delicious even though you smell terrible; when you jump in the shower and throw on your old grubby pajama pants and a t-shirt instead of dirtying up something else just because you know you’re not going back out, then head into the kitchen to kiss your wife and serve up the yummy food she’s had cooking for hours. When you eat dinner in front of the TV, then spend the rest of the evening organizing coupons and talking about what you need from the grocery before settling in for some funny videos and maybe a bit of chocolate pie for dessert. Then, pushing the clock, you help her pack up her lunch and kiss her good bye as she heads out the door for another night of work.

And you kind of hope, even though it means you’ll be late, that you run a little behind in the morning just so you might get a chance to say hello like you did this morning and give her one more kiss, even if it is in passing.

Well, that’s how it is for us.

That’s when being married is the best. I love evenings like that with my husband.
