it’s a new year.

Hello again. It’s been a bit, I know. The last few have been spent tending to a Monkey with four–yes, four–teeth trying to come in at once. He’s been miserable, had a low-grade fever, and has spent most of the last two days either sleeping on or cuddling with me, Firefly, or my dad. He’s been drinking what we give him but was uninterested in much food. Last night was particularly rough on me since Firefly was at work. The fever seemed to have broken tonight. He was a bit more active, and he ate a few bites of our pizza dinner, a mini-muffin, and nearly two small bowls of mac and cheese, but he’s still a bit whiny and uncomfortable.

If you’re following along on a reader you’ve seen that I’ve been posting some of my photos in spurts trying to catch up. I’ve still got a ways to go, but I’m hoping to get more up this week. I did make it all the way through the whole six months with at least one photo a day, but I still have to get 3 from November up (I’m hoping to get those done tonight), and nearly all of December that I’ll be working on in the coming days/weeks.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that the new year brings much joy and happiness!

    Poor little guy!

We accidentally discovered a great thing for teething recently. I put a ziploc of refrigerated apple chunks into Rilo’s diaper bag, intending them for Kyan’s snack later in the day. The nursery attendant at church assumed they were for him and used them to rub his gums and teeth, letting him gnaw a little in the process. Sure, you have to hold them the whole time (or maybe use a mesh feeder), but the texture and temperature are just right.

Happy new year! Good luck with the teething…that is no fun.

Three words: Amber teething necklace. Our savior, since Z only gets teeth in chunks of 4-8 at a time apparently. Best. Thing. EVER!

Yep, teething sucks and the only thing that helped our guy was Motrin. Not hylands, not orajel, not frozen wash cloths, nothing. But he’ll make it through this (as will you).

Teething is evil, so sorry Monkey is suffering. Mesh feeders with ice or frozen fruit work well for instant relief and novelty. Of course, teething necklaces, the Hyland’s gel and motrin work wonders too. I hope he gets some relief soon.
